eddie who is so open with his affection and appreciation to everyone about what they do for him.
- dustin offers his house for a d&d session and eddie’s like “i love you, hendersen. do you know that?”
- robin pays for a dvd rent one time and eddie goes “if we weren’t you know, i’d marry you. thanks, buckley.”
- nancy gifts him some metal trinkets from some store near her college and eddie kisses her head, saying “you are a dream girl, nancy wheeler! i’d fight buckley for your hand,” with a teasing nudge to robin
- lucas and max randomly gives him some patches for his new vest and he hugs the teens tightly saying, “you two are the most adorable couple in all of hawkins!”
- el finally caved in and made eddie float at least five inch above the ground with her mind and he praises eleven so hard saying “that is the most metal thing ever! ozzy could never!” while smiling wide and patting el’s head
- mike and will gifts him dice (the one eddie has been talking about every end of a campaign) and eddie dramatically wipes an imaginary tear, before kissing the head of the teens so affectionately (will smiles so wide while mike pushes him away but eddie knows mike is just shy)
steve sees that and wants to be hugged and kissed and praised like that (he’s already done with realization and panicking with the help of robin and nancy). so he does everything that could elicit that kind of reaction from eddie.
The inherent homoeroticism of killing your enemy and immediately regretting it
It’s about rage, it’s about obsession, it’s about making that two-person war your entire raison d’être. It’s about loving and mistaking it for hatred and loving and loving and loving to the point of destruction. His or yours, it doesn’t matter. And you think seeing him dead at your feet will make you feel better, but all you feel is a whole lot of nothing.
ok but can we talk about traumatising it must’ve been for deena to witness what happened to sarah fier? i mean, sure, she’d be traumatised from what happened with the whole debacle at the mall and being hunted by undead serial killers (who fuckin wouldn’t be), but let’s think about this for a second.
now, i don’t know whether deena experienced sarah’s life in the first person or just saw glimpses of it in the third person, but either way, for her, a lesbian in 1994, that shit must have been fucking scarring. to feel/see the hatred, the injustice, the sheer fucking fear that sarah and hannah went through would fuck anybody up, but for deena it must have been harrowing.
see, she can relate to sarah, in more ways than one: she’s a lesbian, she refuses to conform, she’s brave, she’s defiant, and, above all, she’d do anything to protect the girl she loves. both sarah and deena put themselves in harms way to keep hannah/sam safe. both of them would rather die than see them in pain.
for deena to experience or witness sarah’s life, her terror, her rage, her all-consuming love for hannah, it must’ve screwed her up. to see the full reality of just how deep people’s hatred can go, to see how people like her were treated, it must have terrified her.
not only the fear, but deena also must have felt an agonising sense of injustice for sarah. demonised for who she was, hunted and murdered by the people who were supposed to protect her, and then blamed for a crime committed by the man who supposedly loved her? plus, that blame carried over, and everyone in shadyside cursed sarah fier’s name, believing she was the one behind their misfortunes.
and it must fucking hurt that deena can’t even clear sarah’s name, because who would believe her? how would she prove it? how could she explain that it was never ‘the witches curse’, instead that the town’s gruesome tragedies all stemmed from one family’s greed? so people will go on telling the lie that sarah fier cut off her own hand and made a deal with the devil, unaware that the goode family were behind everything all along?
so yeah, i think deena would’ve been super screwed up by her little trip back into the past, something that isn’t explored in the movie, but that i thought of anyway, and i love her all the more for it; for her determination, her bravery. her sheer fucking strength.
in conclusion, fuck solomon goode and stan sarah fier and deena johnson for clear skin <3
The Fear Street Trilogy should’ve been named “Men Are the Weakest Link and Should Never Be Trusted: Beginning of Time-Present”
All Sarah Fier did in 300 years was grow pretty red moss and try to talk to girls and I think that’s very soft and gay of her.
